La Rosa dei 4 Venti is considered one of the hotspots for yoga fans. And therefore the idyllically situated former monastery is the prize of our big Love your body raffle. Until Monday, March 11th, everyone who buys two Lovechock bars and uploads the receipt here has the chance to win one of three trips to this wonderful destination in the south of Italy.
The Love your Body campaign wants to encourage you to take good care of yourself and to treat yourself. Take time for yourself and enjoy special moments! For example, a little nice moment with one of our indulgent raw chocolate bars. Or meditating and doing yoga in La Rosa dei 4 Venti.
La Rosa dei 4 Venti is not a classical hotel, it is an association run by a group: Giulia, Piergiorgio, Ilaria and Marco (from left to right). We spoke with Marco Sconfienza, President of La Rosa dei 4 Venti in Italy about his conscious journey, rituals and the special yoga place he created with his team for yoga fans worldwide.
A day without yoga is…
Marco Sconfienza: …a day without taking care of yourself… without Love for your body. ☺
How did you come up with the idea to join the Rosa dei 4 venti?
Personally, I’ve simply answered to a need of life change, that was slowly growing inside of me and that I did not initially listen to because I was too attached to my daily city life, projects and expectations, which usually don’t match with our true nature and the essence of our spirit. La Rosa dei 4 Venti project has been an opportunity to listen to that “inner voice“ and discover the big transformation coming from just making different choices.
This project was born 11 years ago from the desire and from the choice of a change of life made by a group of people. After my mother, who`s owner and inspirer of this project’s vision, discovered this beautiful ancient Monastery of the 17th century, we all moved from the North to the South of Italy. We moved there with the purpose of creating a place with the best environmental conditions for our individual psychophysical, spiritual and moral well-being and with the will, through the project and its activity, to open it to the world, sharing the same life principles in which we believed.
This is a much wider perspective than starting just a yoga destination, isn’t it?
Of course! We try to develop, through the form of holistic holidays, social connections and opportunities for human and cultural enrichment.
Nobody of us was practicing yoga at that time, but we slowly got into it thanks to the retreats and workshop activities. Meeting and welcoming teachers, practicing their disciplines, we had the great opportunity to get to know all types of yoga and philosophies, seizing the benefits and thus enriching our new dimension of life.
La Rosa dei 4 Venti is not a classic hotel. Can you describe what is different about your domicile?
We welcome anyone wishing to become a member, organize or participate in any of the activities offered and so we are not open (like a B&B, Resort or Hotel) to anyone, but just to all people interested in participating to our activities and sharing our principles and purposes. Consequently, all our services like also accommodation and food are offered exclusively to these people, once members/participants.
La Rosa dei 4 Venti is an association, thus a non-profit making organization, affiliated to the Italian Association of Culture and Sport (AICS), recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and member of the International Social Tourism Organization as part of Board of Actors of Social Tourism, local and regional level.
And what makes the difference qua philosophy?
Carefully tended by a community of people who live together as a family, we believe that kindness and gentleness are forms of strength. We spread and apply the values and principles set out in the “Declaration of Montréal” (1996) which regulate and promote a humanist and social vision of tourism based on improvement of human relations and the awakening of consciousness.
Our aim is to create a healthy, positive and regenerating environment with particular attention being paid to safeguard the exceptional energy and tranquility of the surroundings, promote good food philosophy, a careful and sensitive approach, and keen attention to detail ensures that all these values are met.
What kind of guest come to La Rosa dei 4 venti: yoga starters, advanced, stars, entrepreneurs, creatives?
All people, all levels, all ages and all languages, cultures and proveniences are welcomed. All our activities during the week/retreat are open to beginners and advanced as the week is not made just by the activities but wants to be a positive and enriching life experience.
We have just one policy: children must be 13 years old or older, practice activities in program and used to staying in a group of adults.
How does a stay at La Rosa dei 4 venti help its guests to get back in balance?
Through the variety of activities offered, the sharing moments, lots of spaces to be with oneself, our healthy food based on PH alkaline diet all fresh home/hand made at the moment with products coming from our fields, our nature, our animals, the silence & peacefulness of our place we constantly protect, the sensitive presence and approach, and through many other details we care… Paying great attention in putting the well-being of the individual always at the center of our project and attentions. We learn this every day by doing it with ourselves and thus be able to take care of others.
How did yoga change your life?
Our Life started to change after the choice we made. New things slowly entered our lives. The choice to face a new vision of our life in the future, making a leap into the unknown, it always been the deep strength, but definitely the yoga practice with its discipline helped us, in achieving a balance, a clear vision to face changes and difficulties.
What kind of rituals do you have to love your body?
Wake up really early in the mornings (5.30 am) with meditation and practice and got to sleep early in the evenings (around 10pm at the latest). I then care my body even through many other small ways, but this can be considered an important ritual/habit that give lots of benefits to my body & mind.
Concerning the raffle in cooperation with Lovechock: What do guests need to put in their suitcases to make this trip to La rosa dei 4 venti?
Honestly all is pretty here. Just own shower products or personal staff which is important for them daily. More information they’ll get on the phone.
